Like I never left

We're here!!! Still in D.C., that is....

Yes, it turns out our 51-person training group will be staying at the Holiday Inn Georgetown for a little longer. After leaving at 3:30 this morning for our Miami flight, we arrive at the airport to find that the flight's been cancelled, with no chance of getting on another one that day. We later meet up this afternoon to hear that the earliest flight(s) they could find would fly to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, leaving this weekend (half the group Saturday, half Sunday), and driving from there to our training site. The Peace Corps folks assured us that this wasn't a drill, or a cruel way to test our coping skills and flexibility... it was just a terrible DC storm that led to a cancelled flight for 51 people.

According to the PC Staging Director, he has never experienced a situation like this in his 5 years at Peace Corps, out of 600+ staging events. How special are we?

Long story short, I'm looking forward to serious bonding and possible tour guiding with my training group. If anyone wants to visit me in my new home on Wisconsin Ave., please get in touch.

Awesome.
